Meet Mike Harris, vCIO
At Fairdinkum, we know a strong knowledge base and level head can help us plan for system hiccups and assist clients through IT highs and lows. This month, we’re excited to introduce Mike Harris, one of the steady hands and thoughtful problem-solvers on our team.
Mike brings a calm, growth-minded approach to both technology and life—driven by family, curiosity and a genuine desire to keep learning.
From Staten Island to the Server Room
Mike is originally from Staten Island, and like many in IT, his path started with curiosity.
He’s currently a vCIO (Virtual Chief Information Officer) and has been working in the tech space for over a decade. Long before certifications and security protocols, though, Mike was immersed in video games and computers. What began as interest in consoles and PCs eventually turned into tinkering, troubleshooting and understanding how systems worked behind the scenes.
Technology wasn’t just something he used—it was something he wanted to explore.
Over the years, that curiosity evolved into a career built on continuous improvement. He’s currently looking toward expanding his cybersecurity credentials and growing into more advanced security and process-driven roles. That growth mindset is core to who he is.
Work Ethic Rooted in Family
Ask Mike what keeps him motivated, and the answer is simple: his wife and son.
Family is the center of everything. One of his favorite recent memories? Celebrating his son’s first birthday surrounded by family and friends, watching the people who love him show up and celebrate together.
Outside of work, most of Mike’s time is spent doing what matters most—being present. Whether it’s everyday moments at home or planning vacations together, his goal is clear: provide a comfortable, meaningful life for his family.
That sense of responsibility carries into his professional life, too. There’s a steadiness to someone who knows exactly why they show up each day.
Curiosity Doesn’t Clock Out
Even when he’s off the clock, Mike’s interests reflect the same pattern: explore, learn, build.
He’s a longtime collector—comics for over 15 years and Pokémon cards since the late ’90s (with a renewed interest during COVID). He also plays Magic: The Gathering, tinkers with his 3D printer and still enjoys gaming.
It’s not just about the hobbies themselves; it’s about curiosity. Technology and creativity intersect in a lot of what he does.
And when it’s time to unwind? You might find him watching classics like The Lion King or The Emperor’s New Groove, diving into Star Wars, or listening to anything with a strong beat—from rock to country to hip-hop.
Advice He Lives By
When asked to share advice, Mike offered something simple but powerful:
“Things happen for a reason. Just don’t give up.”
It’s a mindset that speaks to resilience. In IT—and in life—not everything goes according to plan. What matters is staying steady, staying curious and staying committed.
More Than a Name in an Email
At the end of the day, technology is about people. And we’re proud to have people like Mike on our team. Because behind every resolved ticket is someone who genuinely cares.
