Meet Marek Biel: vCIO

At Fairdinkum Consulting, technology is only part of the equation. Behind every support ticket, project and solution is a team of people who genuinely enjoy helping others. That’s exactly what you’ll find with Marek Biel.

As a vCIO at Fairdinkum Consulting, Marek works closely with clients to help them navigate technology decisions, solve business challenges and plan strategically for the future. He brings a calm, thoughtful approach to every conversation, balancing technical expertise with a strong understanding of client needs.

“I enjoy solving unique problems that require out-of-the-box thinking, collective experience and persistence,” Marek shares.

That mindset has followed him throughout his career.

From Poland to Programming

Marek grew up in Poland and has always been drawn to figuring out how things work. One of his earliest memories of working with computers goes back to the Atari 65XE he and his brother used to play video games.

“I was curious about how to ‘tell the computer what to do,’ which led to long nights learning programming in BASIC and later to getting a degree in Computer Science,” he recalls.

Even before entering IT professionally, Marek found himself helping others with computer issues during internships and early roles. What stood out most wasn’t just the technical side of the work, but the people side.

“Helping people was very refreshing,” he says. “Twenty-five years later, human interaction is still the best part of IT for me.”

That balance of technical knowledge, strategic thinking and personal connection fits naturally into Fairdinkum’s client-focused approach.

Lessons From an Unexpected First Job

Long before working in IT, Marek’s first job was helping on a milk processing plant production line. While it may not sound connected to technology at first, the experience taught him valuable lessons about coordination and adapting quickly.

“Although the job looked simple, it required good coordination to load packed products onto crates quickly,” he laughs. “Needless to say, there were a lot of broken milk bottles on the first day.”

The team made the experience memorable, and as an added bonus, employees got free dairy products.

A Love for Real Stories and Real Experiences

Marek is drawn to stories rooted in real life. “Life can be better than fiction,” Marek says when explaining why he enjoys movies based on actual events. That appreciation for genuine experiences carries into what he values most outside of work: family, connection and continuing to learn new things.

One area he hopes to explore more over the next year is cooking. Marek would like to take a culinary class and learn how to prepare restaurant-quality meals.

But when it comes to the moments that matter most, family stands at the top of the list.

“It is a true joy to witness my three children turn into adults and build lives for themselves,” he shares.

Always Building Something

Marek has always enjoyed working with tools and building or repairing things, both professionally and personally. One item still sitting high on his bucket list is learning some light construction work while helping his son and daughter-in-law with home improvements.

That same hands-on mindset carries into the way he approaches technology: staying curious and finding practical solutions that make life easier for others.

At Fairdinkum, Marek helps clients approach technology more strategically every day — combining persistence, experience and a genuine willingness to help people succeed.
